About Me

I am a community-focused young professional with diverse experiences across Michigan's public, private, and civic sectors. I seek to leverage my skills in community engagement, strategic design, and local policy to affect systems change.

 

Personally and professionally, I am deeply connected to and actively engage within my Northern Michigan community. Through a variety of methods, I seek to uplift the voices and agencies of those who are traditionally ignored while supporting lasting cultural shifts towards achieving socioeconomic and environmental justice.

My goal is to actively support under-resourced, mission-driven organizations in order for them to continue doing good work in their communities. This internship was part of the Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) initiative through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Worked with the materials review, health education, and health equity committees to ensure messages were effective and culturally appropriate for audiences. Delivered dynamic content on the Kent County Health Connect website, frequent postings to KCHD social media platforms, social media toolkits to community partners to amplify healthy living messages, contributions to the monthly newsletter, and a final presentation of the internship experience. Researched new ways to field test communications materials and developed a step-by-step procedure for the department to field test in the future.  Provided the following essential public health services: mobilize community partnerships; inform, educate, and empower.
